What was the date of my last post? Seriously, i had to resort to looking at my list of posts for an answer to this. Been neglecting my blog, this new blog with infrequent posts since June. In case some of you guys who aren’t aware of where’s my old blog, you’re only a mouse click away.
Oh, and if you seriously have nothing else better to do, i’m pretty sure if you start reading back or reading upwards, whichever way you like, the blog is going to keep you occupied for hours. I started blogging back in 22nd August 2003! Haha, is it like the time when blogging just started? Anyways, i can remember vividly till now, i was at the printer room up in level 5 of Block L in Nanyang Polytechnic when Derrick introduced me to blogger and from there, everything else is history.
And.. if you do really have the interest to start reading up my old blog, do pardon and ignore my Singlish and kiddo posts for most of the earlier posts, but you will notice i changed the way i blog, mainly the way i type when conversing in Blog, MSN or SMS.
I’ve been pondering about this fact for quite some time already. What made me do that? The mere fact that i don’t converse face to face with perfect English for sure. Anyways, back on track, i have quite a number of long noteworthy posts which i do still visit them when my “emo” side kicks in. (I got an amazing blog count of 308 posts over 5 years+)
And, before i made this current inactive blog as my active blog, i had another WordPress which lasted for 6 posts.
Alright, based on my first few paragraphs, i’m pretty sure this will be a decent length post. (I have had hit 1500 words in a single post before.) I started with intention to post just some updates, but as i went through my old blogs, thoughts just keep pouring in.
So let’s get things started by taking a quick look at my current short photography journey.
Time flies after my first click on my 500D back in June. To date, thanks to The Peeping Thom, i’ve tagged as 2nd shooter for 5 Actual Weddings and 2 Pre-wedding shoots. It all started with trying to figure out what’s the relationship with ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed, to trying to feel the emotions during an actual day, etc. The bottom line is that in the line of photography, perhaps Wedding photography, in my opinion is one of the most challenging careers which others might not agree with it.
Art itself is subjective enough, what’s worse when you need to be creative and good at it while making others pay for your service. Expectations and demands are both understatements, but along the way, i start to feel that minus the external stress, the biggest challenge is none other than oneself’s desire to excel and gain recognition.
With guidance, i’ve seen a lot more with my naive eyes. I become more sensitive to colors and most importantly light. Photography is none other than painting with light. Without it, nothing else matters even with the most gorgeous gown. Definitely not trying to sound like a professional, but one thing for sure, hard work. Guess it applies to any job out there.

Here’s a snap taken with my iPhone and edited with PSMobile. Pardon the bad contrast or anything that’s overly done. Somehow it looks and feel decent from my phone. Anyway, i took this before a shoot on last Sunday morning. I’m not really a morning person, but on the side note, you can’t go wrong with morning light, if you’re diligent enough.
And so i’m asked and i do ask Thomas as well about which is more fun, Actual Day weddings or Pre-wedding shoots? I tend to lean more towards Pre-weddings, cause that’s when things are more in control, and more personal time with the couples. But it’s rather tricky to strike a certain level of “let your hair down” mood with couples. Directing of couples and location selections are things you need to learn through experience and probably through some crazy wicked creative ideas.
I hope to be able to post up some behind the scenes or my shots with Thomas. But until then, i hope to get back to this blog some time soon again. Cheers!
ps. i kinda find it hard to type my thoughts out now as compared to last time. i’m limited by words. rusty brain, must be.
